But for Nathan Clarke and his Beaufort B-grade side, it's a thing of beauty.
The hard-hitting opener, who hadn't played a game for the Maryborough and District Cricket Association club since before Christmas, smashed the MKM bowlers to all parts of the Beaufort Secondary College ground in a stunning individual innings of 297 on Saturday.
Clarke belted more than 50 boundaries - including 14 sixes - in his mammoth knock, which guided Beaufort to a staggering 1-488 from just 40 overs.
Just to clarify, that's a run rate of just over 12.
The 34-year-old was part of a 470-run opening stand with Ricky Henricksen, who finished unbeaten on 132.

Clarke, whose previous highest score was 103 and had only ever made two tons, was eventually caught near the boundary going for his triple century. It was the end to a painful period in the field for MKM, which dropped their nemesis early in the afternoon.
"With the weather, the ball got a little bit damaged so that helped me a lot, but it was just one of those days where I was seeing them well," he said.
"The first ball I hit a four and I felt good, but I hadn't picked up a bat for eight weeks because I've been painting my house.
"I was a bit slow early and then I just started hitting them well after that and just kept getting quicker and quicker."
Speaking with The Courier on Tuesday, Clarke said he still felt pain from his huge innings.
"I was batting with Ricky (Henricksen) and he was knocking them around, so there was a lot of running as well in that," he said.
"I'm not the fittest bloke so I got a bit tired, fell over a couple of times and was cramping up so I just started hitting towards the end.
"It all come off pretty well. I'm pretty happy with the whole thing. It's a bit weird and I feel a bit sore. The body is killing me. I haven't done that much in a long time."
Clarke has a long history in the Ballarat Cricket Association with clubs such as Lucas, Coronet City, Ballarat-Redan and Brown Hill and only joined Beaufort this season.
In reply to Beaufort's first innings score, MKM fell well short in the run chase and eventually ended the day on 5-171.
Clarke also rolled the arm over, finishing with tidy figures of 0-17 from his eight overs.
After such a dominant innings, Saturday's hero looks well placed to receive a call-up to the club's A-grade side which takes on Maryborough at Princes Park this weekend.
"Most likely, I'd say," Clarke said with a laugh.
