Baker has lodged a clearance to return to the Bellarine Football League side, where he will join the likes of well-known Ballarat footballers Paul McMahon and Lucas Anderson.
The 2018 Central Highlands league team of the year full forward, Baker has spent the past three seasons with the Bombers and booted a total of 89 goals for the senior team.
He was one of Buninyong's best players in the losing grand final of 2018 when he kicked three majors.
Baker last played at senior level at Torquay across 2014 and 2015. He kicked 108 goals in 29 games for the Tigers, helping them to the 2015 decider.
That followed a stint at South Barwon, which yielded a premiership in 2012.
Also on the move is midfielder Jack Romeril, who has lodged a transfer to CHFL rivals Skipton.
Romeril has been with the Bombers since 2016 and played in 68 senior games for the club.
During that time, he was part of two grand final defeats in the red and black.
Romeril was named in the best alongside Baker after that 2018 loss.
The news is big for Skipton, which is looking to build on its breakthrough appearance in the play-offs.
Late last year it was revealed that strong-marking forward Jake Dunne was also off.
Dunne, a CHFL interleague representative, also joined Buninyong in 2016.
He has signed with Ballarat Swans.
These departures are a blow for the Buninyong side which was sent packing from last season's finals series in straight sets after winning the minor premiership.
Coach Shaun O'Loughlin is gearing up for his second campaign in charge of the Bombers, which travel to take on Bungaree in round one.
Meanwhile, Clunes is counting the cost of a host of key departures from its squad.
Last season's best and fairest Brody Lawford has been joined on the clearances list by fellow senior players Barama Blow, Tom and Jack Fenner and Josh and Ryan Thompson.
Blow is seeking a move to Southern league side St Paul's McKinnon, Jack Fenner is hoping to join Lawford at Murrumbeena in the same competition and Tom Fenner is headed to Western Region club North Footscray. The Thompson brothers have committed to Avoca in the Maryborough Castlemaine District league ranks.
The losses will hurt the Magpies, which won just one game on their way to the wooden spoon last year.
Clunes is booked to open the 2020 season with a home encounter against Creswick on Saturday, April 18.
