Emergency service workers were called to Crompton Street around 12.10pm at reports of a structure fire in a roof cavity.
Initial reports suggested someone remained in the property during the fire, however it was later revealed by Ballarat City CFA senior station officer Scott Gambino the fire was very small in size and the occupant of the property was keeping it under control with a garden hose.
He added when his crews arrived at the scene of the incident, the fire was extinguished in around two minutes.
He confirmed no one was hurt during the blaze.
