After claiming the top prize at the Ballarat Photography Group's awards evening on Tuesday, Steve Demeye is hoping his work could result in more success.
Mr Demeye took out first place in eight of the club's nine categories, but insisted his success came as a surprise.
"There were lots of great entries... it's fair to say the competition was pretty fierce," he said.
"I happened to just inch my way to a few wins which was pretty exciting."
Mr Demeye's works will now go on to a number of competitions, including one run by the Amateur Photographic Association of Victoria.
He told The Courier his works are worthy of more success.
"I'd like to think I stand a chance, you've always got to hold on hope. All you need is one judge like your work."
