The equipment will be installed at multiple stations throughout the school, with stations designed for students of all ages and abilities.
Federal member for Ballarat Catherine King visited the school on Friday to announce the $20,000 grant which was secured through the Local School Community Fund.
"Receiving this $20,000 federal government funding will allow Damascus College to install outdoor fitness and gym equipment on our beautiful campus, to enable our 1150 students to undertake a greater range of physical activity in class, at recess and lunch and through our co-curricular activities," said Damascus College principal Matthew Byrne.

"Our students will benefit socially, emotionally and physically from this addition to the campus, as it offers varying stations to suit different skill levels and abilities. It promotes a healthy lifestyle and will increase regular physical activity amongst our student body."
The outdoor equipment will provide opportunity for strength training that students can complete in their own time, or for use during physical education classes.
Ms King said in addition to the new equipment promoting health and physical activity, it would help create healthier lifestyles and reduce stress, anxiety and the risk of obesity.
"We know that it is important to build good exercise habits early in life, and this project will help Damascus College students to do just that", Ms King said.
