Australia won four games to one in the men's teams to defeat New Zealand at the Ballarat Badminton Centre on Saturday.
Australian team-member Mitchell Wheller said it was an amazing feeling.
"It feels really good, especially because we were considered the underdogs. My teammates won two of our singles events and took a lot of pressure off."
Teams faced off in three singles and two doubles matches in a best of five series. Jacob Schneler and Lin Ying Xiang laid the platform to victory for the men after winning the opening two singles matches.
Meanwhile Australian women's badminton team made it two from two after overcoming New Zealand in the women's teams events.
The victory qualifies both the Australian men's and women's teams for the upcoming world championships Holland.
