Rigby, the 2014-15 EJ Cleary Medal winner, opened the batting and almost carried his bat in a patient knock of 111 from 240 balls.
He combined with Liam Brady for a 107-run opening stand which formed the platform for the Bunnies' total of 8-262.
Rigby's ton was his first since returning to Buninyong at the start of last season.
Imesh Udayanga and Viraj Pushpakumara toiled for 51 overs between them on Saturday and finished with four wickets apiece.
Elsewhere in round 14 of the Ballarat Cricket Association first grade competition, Lewis Hodgins made a century to help the Hawks post 8-263 before declaring against Napoleons-Sebastopol.
Hodgins finished on 110 and had good support from Harry Ganley (35), Brad Whittaker (42) and Jarrod Blandford (31).
Naps-Sebas got through a tough little 11-over period before stumps without loss and will resume on day two at 0-24.
Mt Clear batted its full 80 overs in the battle against Ballarat-Redan.
There were a host of handy contributors for the Mounties, but none were better than Jarrod Burns who hit-up 70 from 124 balls to help guide the team to 9-267 at stumps.
The standout performance of the afternoon came from Sam Burgess, who bowled 31 overs and finished with figures of 7-106. The effort has taken his season tally to 25 wickets at an average of 21.4.
Rain was a nuisance in the match between North Ballarat and Golden Point and saw only 53 overs bowled for the afternoon.
North Ballarat was sent in to bat by the Pointies and made it to 7-140 when play finished.
Skipper Mick Nolan top-scored with 47 while Ash McCafferty is unbeaten on 34.
Nolan said it's understood the Roosters will have another 12 overs to bat next Saturday before Golden Point gets to face 65 in the run chase.
The clash between Darley and Wendouree was called off without a ball being bowled with the two teams to come back next weekend for a one-day fixture.
