The former mayor will throw down with the current mayor in a duel at the Ballarat Sebastopol BMX Club, at the Marty Busch Reserve, on Sunday morning, before the BMX Victoria Open Race Meet.
Cr Hudson said he's going to win by four lengths, if he stays on the bike.
"This will be competitive, this will be bragging rights," he said, noting he hadn't been on a BMX bike in "a while".
"As a young kid, we frequently visited the track, I was never a competitive rider, but seeing the height of the jumps this morning, it's a bit of a change in perspective as I nervously look forward to Sunday morning."
He said he wanted to commend the club, which has upgraded the track's surface following the state government's Pick My Project funding initiative.
Lighting towers will be installed by mid-May, allowing more events for juniors and seniors.
"It's a significant cycling asset in Ballarat, right in the heart of Sebas," he said.
"Come down, see the track in operation, and if you're interested - bring the kids, find out a bit more about how to become a member."
Cr Taylor was blunt in his reply.
"We'll see on the day, I might be handicapped to give him an advantage," he said, smiling.
The great race begins at 10.30am.
