Leonard from Ballarat Swans in the Ballarat Football League succeeds Sophie Molan, who is now with Richmond in AFLW, in the leadership role.
Maggie Caris (Horsham) and Renee Saulitis (Lake Wendouree) are vice-captains, while Lilli Condon (Darley), Isabella Hill (North Ballarat) and Ally Trigg (Lake Wendouree) round out the leadership group.
Rebels head coach Rhys Cahir said the leadership group was an exceptional bunch.
He said Leonard was an outstanding leader who wanted the group to get better over herself.
The Rebels' final squad features 15 returning players and 24 newcomers, with two 19-year-olds, 12 top age players and eight bottom age.
Rebels girls co-ordinator Krista Woodroffe said she was pleased with the individual development and cohesiveness as a playing group at this point of the season.
"We definitely feel we have picked our best squad. Normally we would only have the squad at 35, but there were four or five girls we couldn't distinguish from each other so we opened it up to 39 to allow more to get the opportunity.
"We're really pleased with our top end talent as well. We think they will provide good leadership over the course of the season," Woodroffe said.
