The Melbourne-based rock group, which features Ballarat's own Braiden Michetti on bass, is on its way back again about the same time as the release of its third album.
Lead guitarist Alex Laska says the band has performed at the Karova Lounge, now Volta Arts & Culture, more than 10 times.
Speaking with The Courier, Laska said he can't wait to return to the city, adding there was some extra excitement given it would be a hometown show for bassist Braiden Michetti.
"Ballarat is part of the Kingswood family," he said.
"We've played Karova over 10 times and also given our bassist Braiden Michetti is the sound technician for Volta... playing in Ballarat was a big way in which we gained traction as a group."
Michetti, who is the resident sound technician at Volta and has lived in Ballarat the vast majority of his life, said playing in front of his hometown crowd is always a special occasion, especially given the fact he has spent so much time looking up at the stage from the sound desk.
"Hometown shows are always super special, that's the same for all of us," he said.
"Especially given that I've worked at this venue for years it can feel a bit strange to be honest being up on stage rather than behind the mixing table."
The band will be heading through Ballarat touring its new album, Juveniles, which is set for release on March 13.
Speaking about the new project, Michetti said the group got back to its rock roots while keeping the album diverse.
LISTEN TO THE GROUP'S NEW SINGLE, BITTERSWEET:
"It is pretty exciting... It's kind of a little bit more like our first album, moving a little bit more back towards heavier rock," he said.
"There are songs on there that aren't as rocky, it's still a pretty diverse album but it's kind of more riffy which is pretty exciting.
"Playing rock music brings a different energy to electronic music, which is great. I've seen so many electronic gigs where I've walked away thinking that was amazing.
"Playing rock music on stage provides an energy like nothing else I have ever experienced. Some of my favourite shows - and we're really lucky to have played some huge venues and at festivals all over the world - have been at intimate, smaller venues like this where the crowd's right there and everyone is going nuts... there's nothing else like it."
Laska echoed these sentiments, in a somewhat more concise manner.
"It's the best f**king rock and roll album we've ever made," he said,
"I can't tell you why it's good, that's something you'll have to judge yourself when you listen."
Kingswood will perform at Volta Arts & Culture on Saturday, March 14 with tickets available here.
