Residents on the city's western fringe have been lobbying for a post office at Lucas for several years, and with construction completed on a new building at Coltman Plaza, Australia Post will move in in April.
The cramped Alfredton post office has been difficult to access with limited parking and a small shop size servicing a rapidly growing population.
"The Alfredton Post Office will be relocating to a new location within Lucas shopping centre on 4 April 2020, importantly, there will be no change to the products or services available," an Australia Post spokesperson said.
"We look forward to continuing to serve our customers and the local community from this new location."
According to a letter sent to post office box customers at Alfredton, trade will cease at the Alfredton post office at 12 noon on Saturday April 4 and reopen at shop 5A, 14 Coltman Plaza in Lucas at 9am on Monday April 6.
The doors will be open an extra 10 minutes per day, with trading hours from 9am to 5.30pm weekdays and 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays.
