As the cast put the final touches on Ballarat Lyric Theatre's production of Les Miserables, its youngest cast members are eagerly awaiting their chance to get on to the Her Majesty's Theatre stage.

Eight of the 10 children in the Les Miserables cast are students of Ballarat Centre of Music and the Arts so they'll find plenty of familiar faces and support to help them deal with nerves before the curtain goes up.
The eight are all involved in the BCMA Talent Management Agency which enables them to audition and be represented for professional work throughout Australia.

Youngster DJ Kaess, whose role is as a side-kick, will share the stage with his dad Matthew who plays the understudy role of the bishop.
Charlie McGinniss and Anthony Holloway will share the role of Gavroche, while Isabelle Ebenwaldner will perform the role of Little Cosette and Lily Retallick and Nina Douglas will share the role of Little Eponine.
"These are major performance roles and are recognised world-wide for the well-known songs Little People (Gavroche) and Castle on a Cloud (Little Cosette)," said BCMA director Paula Heenan.
The children have been training in singing, dancing and acting at BCMA for many years and involved in countless productions both through BCMA and other theatre groups.
Ms Heenan said after the Les Miserables season wrapped up on March 8, many of the children would head straight in to rehearsals for BCMA's production of Moana Junior, which was only released for performance in Australia in January so they will be among the first to present it for Australian audiences in June.
