I am barking mad about the degree of discrimination that remains in Ballarat against my "best friend".
Despite applications for dog friendly cafes, why has not one single dog friendly indoor eatery been given approval by our recalcitrant city council?
Instead, my dog and I have to venture to one of the many such eateries and bars in Melbourne, or further afield that legally welcome dogs to accompany their human companions indoors.
Sadly, Ballarat loses our business on a regular basis as a result.
Ballarat's dogs already prove they are part of a modern, vibrant cafe culture.
Walk along Sturt Street any weekend and see just how many perfectly behaved dogs currently accompany their owners at tables outdoors.
Why should we accept being condemned to dine exclusively outdoors?
There are certainly many Ballarat dog lovers who would relish a warm cosy indoor brunch, or celebratory dinner accompanied by their canine companion.
Dog owners of Ballarat deserve at least one place to dine, where our four legged companions are welcome at our sides, indoors, or out.
Fiona Ludbrook, Wendouree.
