Among those set to dazzle the expected 10,000 crowd is Newcastle's Andy 'Dingo' Buckworth, who is relishing the opportunity to perform in front of a home country audience.
Based in California most of the year, Buckworth will take his BMX on one of the biggest and craziest ramps you are ever likely to see.
"In late 2009 I got a phone call from the tour manager at the time who asked me to come in and be part of this awesome opportunity with a crazy band of misfits," he said.
"I was on a plane two days later to train for the show.
"In 2010, we kicked off the first ever Australian tour in Brisbane and I've been lucky enough to be part of the Nitro Circus ever since."
Buckworth said BMX riding had always been in his blood.
"Even now when I'm not on the Nitro tour I'm lucky enough to travel the world on a professional, global level," he said.
Honestly, my earliest memory for me was seeing the Crusty Demons video on VHS. There was footage of a BMX rider, who I'm yet to find out who it was in the background doing some dirt jumps.
"And that's where my love from BMX started. Later on, in 2000, when I was 10, I started racing, I did that for about a year.
"The appeal was always, I just wanted to be jumping and in the air. Like most kids I started up with a bit of wood and a brick in the backyard and that's led to 40-50ft giganto-ramps, and 75ft X-Games mega ramps.
"I'm always looking for that bigger jump and the next adrenaline rush."
Buckworth said he was thrilled to be kicking off the world tour in Ballarat, admitting it was his first trip to the city and joking that he only brought one jacket.
Nitro Circus is at Mars Stadium from 5pm today (Saturday). VIP doors open at 3pm, general doors at 4pm.
Free parking is available off Henderson Street and White Ave.
Some tickets remain available and can be purchased from the box office at Gate 1 on the day from 1.30pm.
