More than 70 teams will take part in the annual invitational at the new Ballarat Sports and Evants Centre and the Mars Minerdome.
The tournament is estimated to have a significant economic impact on the Ballarat business community.
Event Manager Mark Valentine said team registrations were up on recent years. He said the growth was reflected in the opening of the new events centre.
"The addition of six more courts has enabled the event to be staged in a much more user-friendly manner with a 10.30am start on Saturday and no games extending beyond 7.00pm," he said.
"This means that visitors can now take in more of Ballarat over the long weekend."
Valentine said the annual tournament marked a long standing tradition for many teams which have attended over the years.
The senior tournament will tip off on Saturday at 10.30am.
