We would not be living in a free country if not for these people and those who gave their lives.
It makes me ashamed of our councillors.
Judith Davis, Delacombe.
ORIGINAL STORY: Plans for education centre at prisoner of war memorial stymied
My uncle was a POW in Germany, captured in Crete.
I think it is an excellent idea to have an education center at the site so the younger generations can learn more of how they survived.
My uncle often told me about his experences as a Pow.
Joe would have been proud to see his name there.
Jon Franc, Warrnambool
The project has never been presented to Council for debate and therein lies the problem.
Ballarat bureaucrats, hired people who were never elected, continually ignore the people.
They make good money, they run the city, and they never have to face voters.
It is time the elected Council stand up and demand the bureaucrats either step back or leave.
They are employees of ratepayers.
This memorial needs attention and expansion. And it is time for Council to be "allowed" to see the proposal.
Stephen Downey.
