Centre For Multicultural Youth will host Walk With Us, a 6km walk around Lake Wendouree tackling mental health issues in diverse communities, ending with a joyful celebration at the festival of colours.
Walk With Us organising committee member Myles Medwell said it could be challenging for people in culturally diverse communities to talk about mental health.
"For those who come from western populations, there is quite an acceptance to talk about mental health issues, whereas it can be seen differently in other cultures," he said.
"It can be hard for someone to acknowledge they have depression in a culture where it may be seen as negative, so we are trying to turn that around."
Walk With Us will begin at 11am at Lake Wendouree Fairyland near Pipers By The Lake on Saturday, March 21.
Participants can walk the 6km around the lake, facing questions about mental health issues along the way.
Walkers will return to participate in Holi Festival, which will begin around 12pm.
The main theme of Holi is unity - it brings people together and spreads love, joy and forgiveness.
- Elan Govan, Ballarat Indian Association president
Ballarat Indian Association president Elan Govan said he was expecting around 500 people to participate in the festival of colours.
"The main theme of Holi is unity - it brings people together and spreads love, joy and forgiveness," he said.
"It resonates with what CMY is doing, where you are walking and thinking by yourself then you come and have a celebration. It is an event full of life, energy and excitement and we want everyone to come and be a part of it.
"It takes people back to their youth to throw some colours and build friendships."
The festival will also feature Bollywood dancers, DJs organised by City of Ballarat youth committee Sonika, food and community stalls.
Ballarat Harmony Fest 2020 was launched on Thursday, kicking off a vibrant celebration of diversity throughout the city.
