Basketball Ballarat made the decision after the Federal Government handed down restrictions on non essential public gatherings of 500 people or more from Monday onward.
Based on advice, Basketball Ballarat will conduct its finals this weekend across four scheduled venues.
The organisation also confirmed senior finals would go ahead after Monday given the number of people is not expected to exceed 500.
Meanwhile, Basketball Victoria made the decision to suspend all related programs, events and leagues until further notice.
This includes all Big V games, which the Ballarat Miners and Ballarat Rush youth was set to take part in this weekend.
It also includes the under-16 and under-18 division three and four Country Championships held in Ballarat this weekend.
In a statement, Basketball Ballarat said it would continue to monitor the situation with regard to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), and was taking steps to protect members, employees and guests against the spread of the virus in accordance with guidelines.
"We, therefore, ask you to ensure that you comply with the guidelines issued by our Health Authorities in order to protect our basketball and wider community and limit the spread of this virus," it read.
The Ballarat Miners and Rush youth programs had been supposed to open the season against the Dandenong Rangers this weekend.
