League president Doug Hobson said a "petite" or "shortened" season was on the agenda and that "everything was on the table" in regards to the talks that will take place.
"We have got plenty of time to work out and formulate this stuff," he said.
Like the CHFL (which runs in conjunction with the Central Highlands Netball League) the Ballarat Football Netball League has been delayed until at least May 31.
BFNL operations manager Shane Anwyl said he was wary of a number of issues that could impact the formulation of a new fixture, including availability of grounds and how late a season could stretch into October.
One of the ideas bandied around at this early stage is that each of the competition's 11 senior clubs could play each other just once before a revamped finals series.
"It might only be a two-week finals series, it depends on what we have to do to fit it in," Anwyl said.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the BFNL said it supported the AFL Victoria directive to stop matches and training.
"We understand that football and netball is a vital component to the social fabric of our community and will be a driving factor to ensure clubs have every opportunity to compete in 2020," it read.
