One of the best known venues in Ballarat, the Lake View Hotel, has shut its doors until further notice as the economic effect of the COVID-19 outbreak continues to wreak havoc in businesses in the city.

The venue on Wendouree Parade is one of the most recognisable venues in Ballarat, facing across to Lake Wendouree.
In a note on its Facebook page on Tuesday morning as well as via email, the management notified customers that it had stopped trading for business indefinitely.
Restaurants and cafes across the state have been asked to stop taking on-site customers as of Monday.
The management of Lake View told customers that business would also stop for take-away services on Tuesday morning.
"Please note that our existing takeaway and delivery options have ceased as of 10.45am today, and our venue has now closed indefinitely. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you all very much for your support."
It is the latest in a series of devastating blows for the Ballarat economy.
On Friday, the management at Sovereign Hill announced it would be closing indefinitely as a result of the slump in visitors.
The tourism and hospitality industry has experienced some of the worst economic effects of the spread of COVID-19.
