WORKS on the six intersection upgrades along Sturt Street will continue unless directed otherwise by the state or federal government says the Ballarat-based roads minister.

Jaala Pulford said the six intersection upgrades, including the installation of traffic lights at Ascot and Raglan streets, and the change of rules at Talbot, Errard, Windermere and Lyons streets will continue for the time being.
Ms Pulford said it was expected that the works would be completed by the middle of the year.
"These new traffic lights will make it easier and safer for people to get around Ballarat's CBD," she said.
"It's all part of our works to improve safety for people walking, riding or driving around Ballarat."
The six intersections have been the site of 85 crashes in the past 10 years, resulting in 135 people being injured.
Ms Pulford said specialist electrical work on the new traffic lights at Raglan and Ascot streets are expected to start this week. The upgrades to the other four intersections are expected to begin shortly.
The changes to Sturt Street also include the construction of new bicycle lanes which will predominantly run on the southern side of the street.
Regional Roads Victoria is delivering the upgrades as part of the $1.4 billion Towards Zero Action Plan, in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).
