The Cardigan stable claimed a share of the New South Wales regional carnival riches with 2yo filly Joanna ($1.75 favourite) in the $100,000 Gold Tiara Final, 1730m.
Joanna found the lead and then dug deep in 1:53.8. Stablemate Dangerous Hand was third in the race.
The daughter of Somebeachsomewhere finished third on debut at Bendigo before winning her Bathurst heat and then the final.
A $50,00 buy as a yearling, Joanna gives Stewart 72 group 1 wins in Australia - more than than any other trainer in the modern era.
This was her first group 1 of the season.
THE Burrumbeet stable of Michael Stanley had a night to remember at Melton on Saturday.
Stanley trained and drove a winning double, while stablehand and freelance reinsman Ryan Duffy drove a treble.
Bar Room Banta ($3.30) stamped his class on the $20,000 Shakamaker Classic, 1720m, to give Stanley another commanding victory with a 2yo at Harness Racing Victoria headquarters and had almost 10m to spare on the line
Following a luckless second on debut, the NSW-bred colt broke away on the home bend in rating a slashing 1:53.8.
Bar Room Banta is raced by BFJ Bloodstock Trust operated by Brendan and Anne James.
By A Rocknroll Dance, he was purchased for $26,000 at last year's Australian Pacing Gold yearling sale in Sydney.
Stanley's double came with American Zest ($7.50), which ran down top class mare Kualoa ($2.80 favourite) in the Alabar Pace. 2240m.
These successes lift Stanley to fifth position on the Victorian metropolitan trainers' premiership on nine.
Emma Stewart leads the table with 41 - 23 clear of nearest rival Andy Gath.
Stanley is sixth in the state title with 34 wins, Stewart is again way out in front on 122.
Duffy's winners came from three different stables.
He saluted on Shoshone Brave ($5.30) in the DNR Logistics Pace, 2240m for trainer Isabel Walsh, Sundons Courage ($4.20) in the TAB Multiplier Trotters' Handicap, 2240m, for Brad Angove and Kasbah Kid ($3.70) in the Captain Sandy Freer-For-All, 2240m, for Geoff Webster.
Duffy sits in the top 10 in the state concession drivers' premiership.
Sundons Courage was second past the post, but was promoted after Majestuoso galloped across the line in front under a new rule introduced this season by Harness Racing Victoria.
