The 'We Care' project has been supported by the Buninyong Mount Helen Lions Club and Buninyong Community Bank which provided design, printing and distribution of the cards..
BDCA president Gayle Adams said residents are invited to complete a few details, including making an offer of various forms of possible assistance, and then dropping the card in the mail box of a neighbour.
Ms Adams said that even if help was not wanted or needed, the project aimed to show community spirit and care in a difficult and challenging time.
"Buninyong prides itself on being a caring community, and it was felt that this was a simple and practical way of showing that," she said. Cards are also available from the post office, newsagency, the Foodworks and the community bank.
