Uniting Ballarat has received its largest donation of blankets from the Freemasons Foundation to assist people experiencing homelessness and financial crisis.

The Sturt-Buninyong lodge of Freemasons Victoria donated 90 woolen blankets, valued at more than $4400, to Uniting Ballarat on Friday.
Lodge secretary Ron Fleming said the donation, which resulted from funds raised through the lodge's annual fruit sale, came at a critical time.
"We know from experience that household costs are increasing and when people are under economic pressure then cuts are made for those things like heating," Mr Fleming said.
"We are delighted to be in a position to continue our charitable work. We are fortunate our fruit sales have been running for mover 40 years and the future of these funds is quite extensive and across a range of projects."
Uniting Ballarat housing and homelessness senior manager Wendy Ferguson acknowledged the Sturt-Buninyong lodge's support, saying the blankets would be well used in the community.
"Over the past 10 years they have donated blankets so they have been a great help to assist people, who are homeless, keep warm in winter," Ms Ferguson said.
