The Ballarat-based Allen is with Ethan Brown and Dean Holland on a property outside of Adelaide to meet biosecurity protocols in place during the coronavirus pandemic.
"We booked a pretty big place so we can have a bit of space to get around and exercise a bit," Allen said.
They bypassed opportunities to ride in Victoria at the weekend to meet the requirements of SA racing authorities.
"The Adelaide carnivals have been pretty good to me over the years so I thought I'd come over and try and win another group 1," Allen said.
Allen will miss the two-day Warrnambool carnival on May 5-6.
He said while that was disappointing, the highlight of that meeting was the atmosphere with the large crowds.
That will not happen this year with spectators banned.
Allen is sitting third on the Victorian jockeys' premiership and 13th in the Melbourne metropolitan title race.
