A V/Line spokesperson confirmed the structures are being taken down for refurbishment and will be reinstalled soon.
"These important works will allow us to maintain these heritage structures while ensuring they don't impact the operation of train services," they said in a statement.
"We thank passengers for their patience while we work hard to complete as much maintenance as possible while coaches are replacing trains on the Ballarat line."
The refurbishments are part of the $3.9 million package of upgrade works along the line.
A signal mast will be taken away from the site and repaired before it is reinstalled at a later date, while crews will also complete minor maintenance on the signal gantry structure.
Heritage Victoria has issued a permit for these works to take place.
VicTrack is also taking the opportunity to remove rust and repaint parts of the heritage station footbridge.
Workers are currently carrying out major upgrades to infrastructure all along the Ballarat, Ararat and Maryborough lines including works on the Toolern Creek rail bridge and the Melton Reservoir Viaduct, along with track maintenance and signal equipment installation.
The works are designed to reduce the risk of infrastructure faults which can lead to delays along the line.
Coaches are replacing all trains for the entire journey between Southern Cross, Ballarat and Ararat until Sunday May 3.
Coaches are also replacing Maryborough line trains between Southern Cross, Ballarat and Maryborough until Monday, April 27. Trains will resume running between Maryborough and Ballarat, connecting with coaches between Ballarat and Southern Cross from Tuesday, April 28 to Sunday, May 3.
