He went back-to-back with legendary Al Garhood in 2010-11 and repeated the dose with the champion's full sister Regina Coeli in 2015 and 2017.
Maher will on Tuesday attempt to capture another Grand Annual Steeplechase, but this time he will be looking to do it take the trophy back to Ballarat for first time.
Maher, who in partnership with David Eustace has had a stable at Dowling Forest since early last year, has three nominations for the $315,000 event - Ablaze, Bit Of A Lad and Euroman.
A former New Zealander, Ablaze has won his past four starts, including the Jericho Cup and a steeple at Warrnambool at his latest outing on March 27.
To be run in front of empty stands, the Warrnambool carnival has been trimmed from three to two days, with the first day all jumps.
