The Herald Sun reported on Thursday that AFL Victoria lodged a request to Cricket Victoria about extending the football season until the weekend of October 24-25.
In 2019, the Central Highlands Football League season concluded on September 7 before the Ballarat competition finished two weeks later. Cricket then started on October 5.
Florence told The Courier in April that the BCA was open to discussions about season start and finish dates and maintained that position this week.
"We were aware that such a proposal was likely to come from AFL Victoria to Cricket Victoria and have been made aware that the two bodies are working it through as we speak apparently," Florence said.
"We will stand by our plans to co-operate and work with AFL Goldfields to obtain the best possible outcome for cricket and football in our area and determine the impact on ground availabilities etc when we know the outcome of planned football seasons.
"We have a good relationship with football bodies in the area, together with the City of Ballarat, based on a good spirit of co-operation and we're sure we can come to suitable arrangements that will minimise the impact on cricket."
