Under new COVID-19 laws released Monday, outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people have been permitted.
The lifted restrictions permit a range of outdoor activities, however all indoor sporting facilities will remain closed.
This is a positive step forward for our community."
- Peter Eddy
Eddy said he was hopeful that over the next month the state government would shift its attention to the indoor space.
"We hope we can get to a stage where we are allowed to have limited groups within the court environment for skills development, and hopefully that can progress to a modified form of competition," he said.
"This is a positive step forward for our community and I think that while we are all eager to be doing things as soon as possible, I think the government is doing a great job of stepping us through cautiously."
Eddy said Basketball Ballarat would meet with local clubs this week to discuss what a competition model would look like once restrictions were lifted.
He said he hoped to see players utilise this opportunity to play outdoors when the weather allowed in the meantime.
