It's one of the options discussed by the league's board as uncertainty remains around when and if competition will be able to get underway in 2020.
The Courier was aware of rumours that the season could be played without finals and asked league manager Diane Ryan about those.
"It's not a rumour, it's one of the options the board have spoken about," Ryan said.
"It's one of many options, we are not focusing (just) on that at all."
Ryan said a shortened two-week finals series had also been talked about.
When asked if playing the season without finals was a possibility, CHFL president Doug Hobson said "everything was rubbery" until more information was received from AFL Victoria.
Despite the state government easing COVID-19 restrictions this week and allowing gatherings of up to 10 people outdoors, AFL Victoria has advised that all training be delayed until further notice. A start date for community football leagues is also unclear.
"Some of the clubs and coaches are getting frustrated because the government is saying you can train with numbers up to 10 and AFL Victoria, for obvious reasons, they just want to make sure they are doing this in the safest manner. And I'm fully with them with that," Hobson said.
"Whatever we do, everything in life is to do with risk management. And we do that every day with everything. That's what they're going through here, trying to negate anything getting out of control and trying to work out their best risk management process as they go through.
"All this stuff is still rubbery. We have got quite a few things that we've talked about as a board and with other clubs that we can do, but it's a waste of time formulating 50 different scenarios when you know you're only going to have one or two.
"When we get our parameters we can work around, we are ready to go and (can) formulate something with the clubs which will suit them."
