DOUG HAWKINS - FOOTSCRAY LEGEND TO COBRAS
Western Bulldogs legend Doug Hawkins accepted the senior coaching role at Bacchus Marsh for 2013.
He lived in Bacchus Marsh and two years earlier had coached the Cobras' under-16.5s to a premiership.
Hawkins had played 350 VFL/AFL games - a club record 329 with Footscray (1978-1994) and 21 with Fitzroy (1995).
He captained Footscray in 1990-93 and won the club's best and fairest in 1985.
Hawkins spent just one season at the helm of Bacchus Marsh, citing he has been wearing too many "hats", personally and professionally, and the club deserved a coach that could devote "150 per cent" each week.
SHAUN GRIGG - POPULAR TIGER RETURNS HOME
Shaun Grigg rounded out his playing career as he had always hoped he would - in the maroon and gold of Redan in the BFL.
He reunited with his former junior club midway through 2019 just weeks after ending his AFL career with Richmond.
Carlton recruited Grigg via the North Ballarat Rebels in the 2006 AFL national draft. He played 43 games with the Blues before crossing to the Tigers in 2011.
He went on to be a premiership player in 171 appearances with Richmond before injury finally forced him out of the game at the top level.
It would also be injury that would limit him to just three games with Redan and miss the opportunity to play finals, and hang up his boots.
SHANE O'BREE - FAMILY TIES AT DARLEY
Former Brisbane and Collingwood player Shane O'Bree linked up with the Rod MacPherson-coached Darley as a player in 2013.
An assistant coach with Geelong, O'Bree went to the Devils to play alongside relatives and Darley stars Jake and Jarrod Edwards.
He went onto play in Darley's first BFL premiership in 2015.
O'Bree played 226 games for Collingwood and 19 for Brisbane, including two Magpies losing grand final sides in 2002 and 2003.
He was first drafted to Brisbane Lions from North Ballarat Rebels in 1998, having played all his junior football at Beaufort.
DAMIAN CUPIDO - BONUS RECRUIT FLAG LINCHPIN
AFL experienced Damian Cupido became a premiership hero for Bacchus Marsh in 2016.
The mercurial forward was recruited after the start of the home and away season in 2016 and made an immediate impact by booting 10 goals in his first two appearaces.
He was consequently a late call up into the BFL representative side and went onto kick 51 goals for the season as well as playing a starring role as the Cobras secured their first BFL flag. He played just the one year at Bacchus Marsh.
Cupido played 53 AFL matches between 2000 and 2005 with Essendon and Brisbane.
BRETT GOODES - STRAIGHT OUT OF AFL TO SEBASTOPOL
Brett Goodes returned to football in Ballarat when he chose to play with Sebastopol in 2016 after being delisted by Western Bulldogs - a high outcome for the Burra.
A VFL premiership player with North Ballarat Roosters, Goodes became an early building block in the revitalisation of the Burra after more than a decade as a BFL cellar dweller.
Goodes began his AFL career late as a 29yo and managed 22 games in three seasons with the Bulldogs, in which time he also played in a VFL premiership with Footscray.
Although he battled injury in his last few seasons with Sebastopol, Goodes had the distinction of playing in the 2019 grand final with the Burra after which he announced his retirement.
