The 2019-20 statistics have the region leading the national charts for the popular Mascots Challenge and Pop Up Blast programs. A total of 46 schools were visited as part of the Mascots Challenge, with 5232 participants involved.
Central Highlands also did well in the Heath and PE schools program, with more than 10,000 youngsters getting involved. This had the region ranked number one in the state and third in the country for total participants.
There is fears these good figures could drop significantly given the loss of Central Highlands participation officer Joel Quarrell, who has been made redundant as part of Cricket Victoria's widespread restructure. Quarrell finished in the role last week.
