AFL Victoria has urged strict compliance to social distancing regulations in its initial return to training protocols, which were released on Tuesday.
The document outlines how training should recommence as of Monday next week.
Clubs are to strictly adhere to the maximum of 10 participants per group, not including a coach or the minimum number of support staff who are reasonably required to manage the activity. No more than two groups of 10 players are allowed per oval.
There should be no access to rooms or wet areas other than toilets and each club must appoint a COVID-19 safety officer, who will undergo training prior to the recommencement of activity.
Club-provided footballs must be cleaned with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after training.
A log or register of all participants in attendance at each training session must be maintained and available upon request by either the league, AFL Victoria or health authorities.
The junior Auskick program has not yet been approved for a return.
"Returning to play in a safe, hygienic and controlled manner is paramount to the AFL. The safety and wellbeing of our participants is our number one priority," the document reads.
"AFL Victoria strongly recommends community clubs implement a minimum one-week preparation and education phase to ensure clubs undertake the necessary preparations prior to small outdoor group training."
Ballarat Football Netball League operations officer Shane Anwyl was happy with the protocols announced by AFL Victoria.
"We fully support the measures put in place that give clubs the opportunity to start training as they see fit," he said.
Central Highlands Football League president Doug Hobson said clubs could now plan a return to training.
"Providing clubs feel comfortable to train and tick off all the requirements, it is a good start to possibly playing football," Hobson told The Courier.
