Multiple Country Fire Authority brigades were called to the large shed fire on Kennedy's Road just after 4.30 this morning.
The CFA'S District 15 Assistant Chief Fire Officer Brett Boatman said Miners Rest, Creswick, Ascot and Ballarat City were at the scene within minutes.
Upon their arrival the incident was escalated, with further brigades called in to assist.
"Crews were able to contain the fire to the shed, where it started, and stop it from spreading to other buildings," Assistant CFO Boatman said.
In all, 10 fire trucks and 35 firefighters worked together to bring the fire under control by 6am.
The last crews departed from the scene about 10am.
While the shed is still standing, it has been gutted inside.
Firefighters faced some challenges regarding water supply, due it to being a rural property.
As a result, water was pumped from a dam across to where the firefighters were working on the fire.
Nobody was injured.
The fire is not believed to be suspicious, though a fire investigator will attend the scene later this morning.
Firefighters also responded to a fire at an old shearing shed and stables out at Waubra overnight.
Firefighters were called about 11.30pm, to the address on Beaufort-Waubra Road.
Three brigades swiftly attended, but the buildings had already been destroyed by the time of their arrival.
Firefighters remained on scene to contain the fire, and protect the structures around it.
They were on scene for a few hours before leaving the scene.
