More people are coming back to Ballarat's CBD as coronavirus restrictions ease, and many have expressed surprise at the rapid rise of Mair Street's GovHub building.

On track to be completed by the end of the year before opening in about February, the top of structure is currently dotted with workers installing roof panels high above Civic Hall.
Construction began in January 2019.
The five-storey, $100 million office block dominates the skyline from Mair Street, and from a number of other views across the city - workers on the top floors will enjoy stunning vistas of the CBD when they move in.
A Regional Development Victoria spokesperson confirmed the building - the third largest mass timber building in Australia - is on schedule.
"When complete, the project will provide jobs for up to 1000 workers and is creating up to 500 jobs through the construction phase, with more than 60 local and regional suppliers from Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong contracted," they said in a statement.
Built by Ballarat's Nicholson Construction, in partnership with Melbourne's Kane Constructions, the structure features a modular design - this allows much of the work to be done off-site.
Once the building opens, in the short term, occupancy of the GovHub will be subject to the directions of the Chief Health Officer in relation to appropriate limits on density to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Armstrong Street North north-bound remains closed during construction between Mair and Market streets.
