After months of discussion, it has been decided that no senior football competition will take place this year.
Just five of the league's 17 member clubs put their hand up to play in the senior grade.
While reserves football is also off, the league is planning to forge ahead and run junior grades.
A statement from the CHFL late Friday suggested under-18, under-15 and under-12 divisions would likely kick-off in mid-July.
"The Central Highlands FL board of management are pleased to announce a junior competition is viable after good support from clubs who have confirmed their ability to field teams through all three junior grades," the statement read.
"The board is still working on dates for a fixture, which will be formulated over the weekend.
"While the season is able to commence on the 11th July, the season will most likely commence on Saturday, 18th July and conclude on Saturday, 19th September. The reason for an earlier start is due to junior competitions not being able to play into October unless they are fixtured alongside a senior competition which was advised by AFL Vic."
Late Friday night, the Central Highlands Netball League announced that all of its competitions - both seniors and juniors - were also off. The CHNL committee stated the decision was made due to "insufficient club numbers".
