Devils senior coach Dan Roy said the group's primary objective was to prepare for the half-marathon as part of the Great Ocean Road Running Festival on Sunday, August 23.
"Hopefully it'll be on. If it is we'll be there."
Roy said players had been looking at the possibility running the half-marathon for sometime.
"Now that there's no footy, we'll knuckle down."
He said it was not compulsory. As well as keeping fit though, it gives players a chance to get together.
Roy is in his first season as Darley coach, having returned to the club after being an assistant to Heath Scotland and premiership player in a two-year stay until the end of 2018.
He returned this season after a premiership with Lorne, taking up a one-year deal with the Devils.
