The program will provide grants to music venues catering for 50 to 1200 people within Victoria and comes off the back of tireless lobbying from the Save Our Scene initiative.
The announcement is a welcome one of owner of The Eastern Hotel, Matt Stone, who has been calling for some form of financial support for venues for the past few months.
"The Labor Government understands how important we are to Victoria and now they're getting behind us," he said.
Moving forward, he added he is excited to see what sort of support the grants may bring to his and other venues across the region, however is cautious regarding who will be able to qualify for the grants.
"These grants seem more directed at businesses like ours, but we'll just have to wait and see."
