BDSA president Herman Bogers said finals series had been dropped for the year to maximum the number of games for all teams across senior and junior competitions.

He said with so much uncertainty surrounding the status of COVID-19, the BDSA wanted to have every team playing as much as possible and keep the whole soccer community engaged as a long as possible.

"We're just talking about this season. It's a different year."

The absence of finals will result just one title for each division - a league championship for the side which finishes on top.

Junior competitions begin on Sunday and seniors on Sunday, July 26, and the majority run until Sunday, October 18.

Bogers said the association was delighted with the level of entries.

He said despite the season delay caused by COVID-19 and the continuing concerns there had only been marginal changes in team numbers across the board.

"I thought anything could happen, but the focus was always to give whatever teams there were games to play."

Although season fixtures have been released, Bogers said he was still expecting some more team entries.

"There could still be some changes, but we don't mind. We have to be flexible."

The BDSA will have 10 under-age and three senior competitions.

Reigning premier and champion Daylesford-Hepburn will begin its division one open championship defence against Sebastopol Vikings at St George's Reserve in Sebastopol on July 26.

They finished one-two on the table last season.

Nine teams will contest division one - one less than last season, with Maryborough choosing not to play.

Other round one fixtures: Bacchus Marsh v Victoria Park, North United v Creswick, Ballarat v Warrnambool, Forest Rangers bye.

Division one women again has six teams, but it does have a different look.

Ballarat Soccer Club took out the championship-premiership double last year, but this season the club will have two sides in the competition.

Creswick and Ballarat Clarendon College are also new sides, while Victoria Park, Ballarat City Fc and Bacchus Marsh have dropped out.

Round one matches on July 26: Creswick v Ballarat Clarendon College, North United v Ballarat Red, Forest Rangers v Ballarat White.

Division two open on July 26 (8 teams last season to 7 this year): Bacchus Marsh v Creswick. Vikings v Daylesford-Hepburn, Victorian Park v Ballarat, North United bye.

Under-17 (5 to 6) on July 12: Ballarat White v Victoria Park, North United v Ballarat, Victoria Park Red v Warrnambool.

Under-16 girls (5 same): North United v Ballarat Red, Bacchus Marsh v Ballarat White, Buninyong bye.

Under-15 open (6 same): North United v Ballarat, Victoria Park v Bacchus Marsh, Vikings v Forest Rangers.

Under-14 open (6 to 4): North United v Ballarat, Vikings v Daylesford-Hepburn.
