Legendary football coach Gerard FitzGerald likened his relationship with Shaune Moloney to that of a father and son at the North Ballarat Roosters.
FitzGerald and Moloney as coach and captain led the Roosters to three consecutive VFL premierships from 2008.
He saw Moloney as a great motivator.
Recalling his final meeting with his players before the 2008 grand final: "I can remember 'Spider' (Moloney) perhaps led the charge, but the believe with that group as from their body language was something I will never forget."
FitzGerald speaks candidly about his relationships with Moloney and his players, and all the highs and lows of a coaching career spanning more than three decades in the third episode of The Courier's new "Off The Record" podcast series.
