The Wendouree Netball Association is experiencing a surge in participation numbers after becoming one of the only places left to play netball in the region.

The association has more entries for the 2020 competition season than it did in February, prior to the COVID-19 lockdown.
Association manager Jordan O'Keefe said the influx occurred across both junior and senior competitions.
"It's a unique space we are all in at the moment but it goes to show people are keen to get up and playing," he said.
"If it's taken out of our hands, it's taken out of our hands, but at the moment our numbers are more than what they were."
The spike follows the abandonment of the Ballarat and Central Highlands Football Netball League seasons. O'Keefe said registrations began filtering through as soon as announcements were made.
"It's a shame for Football-Netball, but it's a matter of getting people on the court, and if we've got something to offer then great," he said.
While O'Keefe expected an increase in players, he said he didn't expect it to happen so quickly.

He said at the start of the year, the association only had enough junior numbers to fill 12-under and 13-under age-groups.
"We've gone from offering a 12-under and 13-under competitions to being able to offer 15-under and 17-under competitions as well," he said.
The association will commence its junior season on July 22, with seniors set to follow on July 26.
