The UFS-led COVID-19 screening clinic is testing about 200 people per day, up from a 140-person daily average by mid-last month.
UFS primary care operations manager Danielle Trezise said staff at the clinic, supported by Ballarat Health Services, was extending work into the evening and at weekends to keep up with community demand for tests.
Ms Trezise said there was a fine balance in increasing test appointments with ensuring people were safely spaced out but the clinic kept aside times for the most urgent cases and tried to fit in extra tests for people when patient flow was moving well.
There are no known active cases in Ballarat and Ballarat has not recorded any new COVID-19 cases since mid-May.
More than 979,000 tests in Victoria have been processed during the pandemic. Average wait for results in Ballarat is a conservative three days, depending on the time of day the test was taken and transport time for laboratory assessment.
BHS acute operations director Ben Kelly told The Courier late last month the health service's focus would remain on supporting UFS at Lucas Community Hub, rather than open another clinic to meet community testing demand.
Health experts have repeatedly said testing widespread testing remains the best way to gauge the virus' spread in the community.
University of South Australia biostatistics chairman Adrian Esterman said a decision to lockdown metropolitan Melbourne should not impact restrictions in regional areas: "However, a careful eye will have to be kept on regional Victoria to make sure that the outbreak has been contained".
Anyone with any cold and flu-like symptoms is urged to book a COVID-19 screening test at Lucas Community Hub, phoning, 43 11 1571.
