There remains a total of 11 cases since the epidemic began, none of which are active.
The last positive case confirmed in a resident of the Ballarat council area remains from mid-May.
There were no new positive cases close to home. Golden Plains registered three more active cases yesterday, while Moorabool has two.
On Tuesday, two active COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the region - the first near Ballarat for some time - following testing in the city.
Neither had their address in the Ballarat municipality but both are understood to have been tested at the Lucas clinic to the south-west of the city.
The Courier understands both infected people work in Melbourne where they each contracted the virus from known sources.
On Wednesday, a statement from Ballarat Health Services said they were aware of one case but there had been no need for hospital treatment and the individual was being treated at home.
Both cases were notified on Monday and counted in the latest Victorian health department update released on Tuesday.
ALSO IN THE NEWS
While Melbourne and Mitchell Shire are in lockdown, people are still able to commute between these areas and the rest of regional Victoria for work and study.
It was perhaps always just a question of time before the recent upsurge in COVID-19 cases eventually reached the region.
Ballarat had been the last major regional city in the state to be without a registered active case of the virus.
There have been cases over the past several days registered in Bendigo, Geelong and Warrnambool.
The Ballarat LGA is still on 11 cases despite the two testing positive in the city.
The Courier is seeking to confirm whether the individuals involved in the recent positive test are in hospital or self-isolating.
Medical professionals have also expressed strong concerns about the amount of testing available in the city.
There is currently only one testing facility available in Lucas. Other sites, including at Morshead Park and Sebastopol, were closed down.
While the operation of the facility at UFS is running smoothly, there are now significant waiting times - up to three days - for an appointment.
On Tuesday, Premier Daniel Andrews said he would bolster testing in regional areas.
Later, UFS announced that it would be expanding its testing centre in Lucas with one extra consulting room.
On Wednesday, regional health authorities confirmed they were looking into a further testing facility in the city.
