Mt Buller has confirmed its ski lifts are still open and skiing lessons and snowmaking are continuing.

Resort chief executive Mark Bennetts said Mt Buller had a COVID Safe Plan in place and was committed to staying open unless further directions came from the state government.

"While some businesses and lodges may not be able to continue operating through this next phase, we appreciate the commitment of those who decide to do so as we adapt to changes in visitation," he said.

Buller Ski Lifts general manager Laurie Blampied said health and safety was uppermost in their minds and the business would be following public health guidelines.

"The decision to continue running ski lifts, lessons and snowmaking was reached with the wellbeing and livelihoods of our employees, the community and our guests in mind," he said. "Remaining open is not an easy decision however we believe it is in the best interests of our community and regional Victorians."

Lift tickets for the remainder of the season are now available for purchase online. People with season resort entry passes and season lift pass memberships can continue to use their passes if they are permitted to be within the resorts in accordance with the government's guidelines for travel.

There is no tobogganing permitted in the resort at this stage.

People living in metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire must follow the lockdown rules and stay home. Those with bookings will be eligible for refunds and changes.

"We sincerely thank our valued guests from Melbourne and Mitchell Shire for their understanding as they stay home and we process refunds and changes. We look forward to when we can welcome everyone back once this challenge has passed," Mr Blampied said.

"This year has been incredibly tough on our community through fires and the coronavirus, but we remain committed and determined in the face of this latest challenge to support the local people and those in our region who rely on tourism," Mr Bennetts and Mr Blampied said in a joint statement.

"The resort is maintaining a rigorous safety protocol and is ready to welcome regional Victorians to the mountains."

Mt Buller is expecting about 10cm of snow on Sunday with fresh falls on Monday. The forecast indicates mostly fine days and cold nights, with another front moving in on Friday.

Four lifts have been in operation across the weekend. Sightseeing is available on the ABOM Express chairlift.

Vail Resorts suspended ski lift operations at Hotham and Falls Creek ski resorts on July 9. The closures are expected to continue through until at least August 19.
