It is a big coup for the Hawks, who snagged the elite paceman after three years at the Mounties.
He will open the Hawks' bowling attack alongside Oliver Hayes when play returns later this year.

"He and Oliver are two of the top four wicket-takers in the league in the last four years," East Ballarat captain Josh Brown said.
"To have Oliver and him as the openers is pretty handy."
Thomson last played for East Ballarat during the 2012-13 season. He then played premier cricket at Melbourne Cricket Club before joining Mt Clear prior to the 2016-17 campaign.
As a Mountie, he recorded the most scalps in three of the last four seasons.
Brown said he had been chasing Thomson for a long time.
"I played a lot of juniors with him, he was an East junior originally, and we have been pretty keen to get him back the last couple of years," he said.
"It might only be for a year or two, but he's good to get."
Thomson was one of two big additions for the club during the off-season. The Hawks also added all-rounder Harli Givvens, who played for Buninyong last year.
Givvens opened the batting on a number of occasions for the Bunnies in 2019-20.
His best came in the club's round one clash with Wendouree, where he produced a knock of 56.
East Ballarat welcomed the new recruits at a meet and greet event on Monday.
