Instead of awards, which have become a major part of the annual Victorian Seniors Festival, this year the focus wll be on recognising the lives and contributions of Victorian aged care residents.

There are so many amazing stories out there just waiting to be told - and 50 will be selected for the Recognising Senior Victorians project.

Chosen participants will feature in a five-minute broadcast accompanied by a written story.

Commissioner for Senior Victorians Gerard Mansour will provide an introduction to the stories, and all residents involved will receive a Certificate of Appreciation.

You will be able to see all the interviews at Seniors Online through to the end of the year.

You can find out thanks to the Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined - a new-look seniors celebration for unprecedented times available free on the festival website.

Each week until October 31, hosts Tristan Meecham and Bec Reid interview stars about their lives.

So far, weekly themes have include Love, Pride, Renegades and Gamechangers, Everyday Heroes and Imagination.

Themes this month include Curious Minds, featuring puppetry with Bonkel Theatre, country music star Tania Kernaghan and First Nations leader Rhoda Roberts; and Generosity, with cabaret performer Bob Downe, jazz/cabaret artist Jane Clifton, and contemporary dancer Tony Yap.

Radio broadcasts are a feature of the Victorian Seniors Festival Reimagined.

The programs provide listeners with blasts from the past as well as more contemporary offerings.

Golden Days Radio has contributed the wonderful Bing Crosby and Friends series, A Night at the Theatre, celebrating live shows from the 1840s to the present day, and At the Picture Palace which explores the history of the grand cinemas that emerged across Victoria in the 1920s.

The Bing Crosby series focuses on the legendary entertainer and the artists who collaborated with him. The series was hosted by Ray Stewart and features many rare records and radio broadcasts.

Courtesy of Radio 88FM comes Little Richard and the early rockers presented by Ian Braybrook, including music from Bill Haley, Bo Diddley and others.

If you love radio plays, tune in for Alan Hopgood's Wicked Widows by Bay Street Productions; or there's The Agatha Christie Radio Mysteries - Butter in a Lordly Dish - from Lux Radio Theatre.

Fans of the spoken word will enjoy Dark Tales - The Red Shoes & Two Things - written and performed by Christine Grace.
