THE Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) has confirmed that four positive COVID-19 cases are linked to a Ballarat bakery.

In a statement, a DHHS spokesperson said: "We respect the privacy of all residents and do not provide details about individual cases unless it is necessary to do so in the interests of public health.
"We are working closely with Ballarat Health Services to support the community and facilitate testing to stop the spread of this deadly disease."
It was also confirmed that contact tracing is being undertaken by Ballarat Health Services, supported by DHHS, and the business is undergoing deep cleaning.
DHHS did not reveal details when the cases connected with the bakery were transmitted or detected.
This week, a sign was placed on the front door of a Latrobe Street business which reads "Due to COVID-19 Ballarat Bakery will be closed until further notice, sorry for the inconvenience. We hope to be open again somewhere during the week of 10th of August".
One nearby business told The Courier they witnessed cleaners in the bakery on Wednesday.
The bakery has been contacted for comment.

Anyone with even mild symptoms, such as sore throat, cough, headache, shortness of breath and fever should immediately attend for testing at their local testing centre.
Officially Ballarat's active COVID-19 cases were 16 as of Thursday, up three cases from Wednesday. In total, there have been 34 positives cases in Ballarat since the pandemic began in March this year.
