The community rewards program at Ryan's IGA stores have added up to a $4400 donation for Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Ryan's IGA general manager Ben Ryan said even in such a difficult time for the whole community, there was something that resonated about FECRI for people.
"Cancer is an issue close to a lot of people's hearts," Mr Ryan said.
"...We change our (token) deposit boxes every couple of months. There are some things that really come through for our customers, one is continually wanting to support Fiona Elsey.
"When you talk to customers about it, it always comes back to a personal story and they are really wanting to find a way to help research."
FECRI has maintained momentum in lockdown. Funding will assist key research projects including ovarian cancer, breast cancer, renal cancer, blood disorders and immunology.
Ryan's IGA community rewards program allows customers to direct fundraising money to community organisations, sporting groups and charities. Ryan's IGA has stores in Mount Clear, Pleasant Park, Northway and Beaufort.
