This board is being created following the major overhaul of the AFL Goldfields Commission earlier in the year.
This saw all nine existing members resign from their respective roles. Chairperson Katrina Baddeley and fellow commissioners Greg Duver, Paul Armstrong, Craig Fletcher, Paul Fisher, Peter Kerr, John Ives, Roger Le Grand and Matthew Jenkins all stepped aside and allowed a new group from the AFL to take charge.
It's understood a poor financial position and a lack of income due to the COVID-19 crisis led to discussions with AFL Victoria about the takeover.
AFL Goldfields general manager Gerard Ryan said the Ballarat, Central Highlands, Maryborough Castlemaine District and Riddell District leagues would all have a member on the board, as would the Riddell Umpires and Ballarat Football Umpires Association. There is also room for independent representatives.
"They'll meet on a regular basis during season and they'll be providing advice through to AFL Goldfields on matters around operational activities and opportunities for growth as they see it," Ryan said.
Ryan has previously said the board was to ensure local feedback to the commission.
