Lachie's Legacy saluted in the inaugural running the Ballarat Tier 3 Enduro Cup Final, 545m, at Morshead Park on Wednesday night.
The dog carries the name of the charity dedicated to the life of Lachie Poulter, who at just 25 years of age died after suffering a heart attack at the end of a football game he had played in with the Towners in 2018.
His mother Nola, who is a part owner of the greyhound, said it was a big thrill. "Wow."
She is a member of "The Canine Crew" syndicate.
Lachie was involved in greyhound ownership with some mates, who decided to take the opportunity to race one in his memory.

Nola said she could see some of Lachie's characteristics in the dog.
"It's so much like him - big and friendly."
Trained at Heathcote by Mark Johnson, Lachie's Legacy has now won three times.
He went into the final after a third and win in the Enduro Cup preludes in Ballarat.
The Poulter family established Lachie's Legacy to capture his love for the game by helping others.
It provides equipment including, but not limited to footballs, training equipment, uniforms, boots to children atround the nation who otherwise would not have access to.
The organisation also facilitates development of the game within rural areas through workshops for coaches, player training sessions and mentoring.
